  • When I look at this photograph, I remember a time of bliss.
This one simple click of a camera button forever in my brain.
A time not so long ago, never to be forgotten, it seems so long ago I was standing on the silvery beaches.
Sea shells lay before me scattered, one by one I hand select the proper ones.
Now that I am gone, I look at the shells and remember the time of bliss.

  • Who I Am.

I am from music, and getting lost in the melodies.

Long walks on the beach with the radiant sunsets beaming across the vast ocean.

Chats with friends, gushing over topics only their ears are privy to hearing.

I am movies with a plot as thick as sheep’s wool; every shape and form, transplanting me into a world I can only fantasize about.

Of the Broadway Theater, the smell of must still lingering in my nostrils.

Dreamless sleep, not nearly long enough.

I am the gentle swells of the Ocean; the smell and feel are intoxicating to say the least.

Photographs of friends with silly faces, to the dramatic planned out snapshots of a wonderful memory.

I am a tattered backpack that is clinging to life, needing just one more adventure in the sleepy wood.

An octave too high, and an octave never low enough for the magnificent tenor to be fully revealed.

I am scribbles; never to be read by an adult, but transformed into elaborate fairy tales of a child’s imagination.

A dingy textbook, just one of many to be placed in a lap of learning.

I am books, hours spent in a battle far greater than ones’ life can imagine.

Twinkling stars that are a road map when your nights are darkest.

    I am me, that’s who I am.

Lazy Sunday MigasMigas are traditionally made with pan-fried corn tortillas, but seeing as I’ve been running around all morning putting up Gala Gala Hey! fliers and have to work in a couple of hours, I opted for thin tortilla chips instead.   3 eggs1 handful Tortilla Chips1/2 small Purple Onion, chopped2 small Yellow Peppers, seeds removed, chopped1 Jalapeno Pepper, seeds removed, minced1/3 cup Monterey Jack, shredded 1 Tbsp Half & Half1/2 Tbsp Extra Virgin Olive OilFresh Cilantro, choppedSalt & Pepper to taste
Add olive oil, onion and peppers to saute pan on low/medium heat.  Saute until soft.  In a bowl, whisk eggs and half and half together until incorporated.  Add to pan, season with salt and pepper and begin to scramble the eggs.  Break a handful of tortilla chips into the egg mixture and toss together.  Once eggs are close to being done, mix in cheese and cilantro.  Serve hot.
This morning I stopped in Transmitter Park in Greenpoint to catch the amazing view of Manhattan.  Tomorrow will be my 3rd anniversary of living in New York and it was great to have a few quiet minutes to think about how impactful my time here has been.  Without sounding like a big pile of mush, I feel really lucky to have experienced so much over the last few years - both good and bad - and running this blog has been an important part of that.  Thank you from the bottom of my sappy heart for reading!

  • Where Does This Leave Us?

I sit from afar watching as our lives slowly slip by,

From children to teens to adults.

You stand there with this look of absolute joy on your face.

Wondering to myself what your so happy about,

Blending into the sea of faces,

    I disappear without a trace.

Years go by without you by my side,

    It makes me wonder,

    It makes me sad.

    Without your words of wisdom,

    Encouragement,

    And care,

I am lost in a world I cannot fathom.

    The seasons are rapidly changing,

Fall to winter, to spring to summer.

    Repeat.

Winter hangs in the air like a thick blanket engulfing my mind.

Emerging from a new challenge in life,

I spot you standing all alone.

Calling out your name you turn,

    Smile,

And start to walk towards me at a rapid pace.

    My heart beat quickens,

    Unable to breathe,

    You take my breath away.

    Grinning from ear to ear,

I take you in my arms for a long awaited hug.

You smell of sweet honey and the bitter aroma of coffee,

Mint chewing gum lodged in your mouth,

    Winter-mint floods into my nostrils.

His familiar eyes lock me into a trance,

A trance of piercing blue water,

Rippling out into vast pools of blue ocean.

    Lost in my own fantasy,

You bring me back into reality with a simple question:

    “How are you?”

Talking for a while I realized I was staring at the man I love,

And that I have always loved,

    And I always will.

We say our goodbye’s and promise to write to each other soon.

I start to leave and go about my day when suddenly He calls my name.

    I turn.

He grabs my hand and pulls me in close,

I can feel his warm breath upon my chilled nose.

    He leans in.

My heart is pounding against my ribs,

I wonder if he can sense how nervous I am?

    He kisses me.

    Dancing on a cloud,

I am paralyzed with a wonderful drug I have waited for all of my life.

    Yet,

    As soon as it came,

    It left.

    He turned and walked away.

    Nothing more,

    Nothing less.

    What just happened?

He came into my life like a lightning bolt,

They never strike in the same spot twice.

    So,

    Where does this leave us?
